The Banshee of the MacCarthys by T. Crofton Croker The Irish are known for their love of ghost stories, fairy tales and belief in the supernatural. This is a short story which presents all the elements of a great ghost story. "T. Crofton Croker spent several years in the early 1800s roaming Ireland and collecting stories from ordinary people, especially in the south of Ireland. I picked this story because I enjoy tales from Ireland and it presents an interesting overview of life and customs during the early 19th century." - Kathy
